Who we are
Beacon Makers is a small web design studio based in New York, NY. We design, build and look after websites for property managers and local businesses. In this policy, “we” and “us” means Beacon Makers, and “you” means anyone who visits beaconmakers.com.
What we collect
When you fill in our contact form, we receive the details you type in: your name, your business name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, and your message.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use, your approximate location (city or region, not your exact address) and the website that sent you here. We don't use this to identify you personally.
Like every website, our hosting provider automatically keeps basic technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of a visit) to keep the site secure and working.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
- To work with you and look after your website if you become a client.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful, so we can improve it (only if you accept analytics cookies).
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Cookies
We only use analytics cookies, and only after you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. They are set by Google Analytics (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) and normally last up to two years. If you click “Decline”, no analytics cookies are set. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage, which isn't a cookie and isn't sent to us.
You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Who we share it with
We use a few trusted services to run this site. They only process your information to provide their service to us:
- Netlify hosts this website and receives contact form submissions on our behalf.
- Google Analytics measures how the site is used, only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Our email provider delivers the messages we exchange with you.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form enquiries for up to two years, unless you become a client, in which case we keep them for as long as we work together and as long as needed for our records. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Just email us and we'll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law, and we'll honor them.
How we protect it
We use reputable providers, secure (HTTPS) connections and limited access to keep your information safe, in line with New York's data security requirements. No method of sending or storing data is 100% secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.
Children
This site is for businesses and isn't aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
